You have to be joking? Loose Brie

The joke that you loved but no one else did?

We had a bit called ‘The Last Macarena’ set during a mutant rat-related apocalypse. We tried to gee up the survivors (i.e. the audience) with one last dance. They were having none of it.

The joke that worked but you are not so proud that it had?

Phil’s ball fell out during a stripping sketch once with Martin’s mum in the audience. Then it happened again, at a different gig, but still with Martin’s mum in the audience. The laughs we got referencing her appalled face did well at both gigs, but neither of us is that proud of it, especially when we have to look her in the eye.

The last thing that made you cry with laughter?

Pope Lonergan does this brutally honest bit about some bottles of an unspecified fluid he used to keep by his bed. It’s brilliant in its own right, but seeing him get off the stage and deliver it directly at an incredibly pissed heckler killed us both.

The comedian(s) that made you want to be a comedian?

Martin loves Eddie Izzard so that’s him. Phil got made to do his first gig by Martin, so that’s him. But for us as a double act, Ali Brice and Michael Brunström inspired us to a) have fun and b) make the most of comedy as a live medium. We’ll never forgive them for that.
