The joke that you loved but no one else did?
When I first started, I had this bit where I imagined that the reason the Statue of Liberty held one arm up was because she only remembered to shave one armpit. It never really landed, but I found it amusing.
The joke that worked but you are not so proud that it had?
Once a promoter told me that I should do more material about being Jewish, so once I did a joke, which I can’t quite remember, but it was pretty hack, about the stereotype of Jewish mothers. Makes me feel a bit ill thinking about performing that to an audience.
The comedian(s) that made you want to be a comedian?
I discovered the Mighty Boosh when I was 14 and became fully obsessed with it. I was also a big fan of Never Mind The Buzzcocks and got really into Simon Amstell’s stand up because of that.
The last thing that made you cry with laughter?
I was on the bus home listening to Eddie Pepitone’s ‘In Ruins’ and started to cry-laugh at the bit where he talks about honestly in advertising and how adverts for big cars should mention that there’s “room to weep”. I’ve listened to/watched that show well over ten times and it never gets any less funny.
