Edinburgh, the Fringe, why bother?
Edinburgh is a shop window.. Its a display cabinet, its a parade, a charade, a black hole, a writhing sea of desperation, a test of your sanity, the true measure of a performer. Play it at your peril.
What have been the nuggets of inspiration behind your show this year?
The audience provides the inspiration for the content of the show, they make up song titles, i make up the songs i think they would be.. its fun.
Stand-out Fringe moment to date?
Getting out alive.
When you wished a hole had opened up in the ground and swallowed you up?
Every hungover Edinburgh morning.
Your unsung heroes in the industry at current?
LeeN. He is the worlds greatest freestyle mc. He may make a guest appearance at the show, we’ll see.
Three shows you must see this Fringe?
Half-Time, on at the Laugh Chasm Its a coming of age tale about a boy who has to face his school bully tormentors in order to become the referee of his local team. Also i just made that up. Also on is Daniel O’Maelt, he’s a trans-human from the Isle of Skye who’s augmented his body with lasers. Any heckles are met with instant annihilation. I have not made him up.. He is very real.
The one person you’d love to see your show and why?
David Cameron, I would literally gouge his fucking eyes out, the cowardly, spineless middle-manager of the vile and selfish. I would happily rip his arms off like a startled chimp.
The reason why one should come and see your show?
Cos its really good.
The one thing in Edinburgh you must do?
Remember to breath or you’ll die.
Ah sorry, you’re dead. But least you can have that dinner party you’ve always wanted. Who are you inviting?
If i’m dead, surely i wont enjoy it… It would probably really freak out the guests too..
Beardyman: One Album Per Hour at the Pleasance Grand from 18th-24th August.
