Laughing for Palestine with Seann Walsh and Gavin Webster
This week Israeli forces demolished 70 Palestinian Homes in Sur Baher, a village near Jerusalem, leaving a whole community devastated. EdFringe is about to have its say on this travesty. Following the huge success of Laughing for Palestine With Frankie Boyle during EdFringe 2018, the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions – UK @ICAHDUK – is excited to announce another fund-raising event at this year’s Fringe. Headlined by Seann Walsh and featuring Maria Shehata, Gary Sansome, Sameena Zehra and Gavin Webster, the event will be MC’ed by ICAHD UK’s Director, Comedian Daphna Baram. It will be held at the Stand Comedy Club’s New Town Theatre, 96 George Street, Edinburgh EH2 3DH at 1.30pm on Monday 12 August.
Tickets, at £15.00 each – the proceeds will be used to help fund ICAHD UK’S advocacy activities in the UK, and building and solidarity projects in Palestine/Israel.
ICAHD UK is the UK branch of ICAHD, a non-violent campaigning organisation focused on issues of displacement and demolition in Palestine/Israel. Last year, following a successful Buy A Brick campaign that culminated in Laughing For Palestine at EdFringe – 20 ICAHD volunteers have built a community centre in the Jordan Valley, picked olives in the West Bank and participated in an educational tour in order to create an in-depth knowledge based and solidarity between communities under threat of displacement in Palestine/Israel. In 2020 ICAHD UK is planning a building project in a yet to be revealed location in the West Bank. ICAHD UK also leads an Extended Study Tour to Israel/Palestine every November and March.
