Edinburgh, the Fringe, why bother?
Edinburgh is great, the fringe is great, I love bothering people.
What have been the nuggets of inspiration behind your show this year?
I guess a lot of this year’s stuff has come from the sour taste in my mouth – I think I’m getting grumpier.
Stand-out Fringe moment to date?
The day I discovered the Bloody Marys they do in Element Bar on Rose Street.
When you wished a hole had opened up in the ground and swallowed you up?
The morning after I discovered the Bloody Marys they do in Element Bar on Rose Street.
Your unsung heroes in the industry at current?
Jessica Fostekew is just great and Peter Brush is writing all the jokes I wish I’d written but wasn’t smart enough to get near.
Three shows you must see this Fringe?
Michael Brunstrom, the Haywain reloaded. I always recommend this guy. He’s wonderful. Cant wait to see this show.
Laura Lexx: Tyrannosaurus Lexx, Laura is really talented, is totally under used, and has a similar mission statement to her comedy as myself. So if you like the kind of thing I do, but being performed better, then this is probably the perfect show for you. I’ll be seeing it for sure!
Pat Cahill: D.O.T.T, this is the best preview I’ve seen so far. I’m still laughing about it now. He’s a totally unique act and I’m a huge fan.
The one person you’d love to see your show and why?
Koko the Gorilla, she’s a gorilla that’s been trained to communicate through sign language. I think she’d like this show.
The reason why one should come and see your show?
The world will seem like a totally different place after you leave.
The one thing in Edinburgh you must do?
Ah sorry, you’re dead. But least you can have that dinner party you’ve always wanted. Who are you inviting?
People who will happily eat my average cooking without moaning. Oh, I’ll probably also have to invite a dinner table because I don’t have one of those.
