Edinburgh, the Fringe, why bother?
Mate, why the hell not! I mean, we had a string of gigs on the West Coast of OZ and they fell through due to some issues with mining profits or something so we just thought, we’ve got a free month lets give it a bloody crack.
What have been the nuggets of inspiration behind your show this year?
I think the main nugget, has gotta be my girlfriend Bambi. I mean, when you see her you’ll understand she’s inspirational. I was feeling a bit flat due to the big accident in Townsville with me old assistant Sheree, and I mean we don’t talk anymore. So I’m at a Landmark seminar on the Gold Coast looking for a bit of fire and I see Bambi across the room, and I know it’s on. The inspiration here, the real magic is love, which is the greatest magic of all.
Stand-out Fringe moment to date?
Its our first time here, so I reckon its gonna be our first night.
When you wished a hole had opened up in the ground and swallowed you up?
There was a time in Cunnanurra where I was performing near a pretty big sink hole on a golf course but other than that, haven’t had too much experience with holes and stuff sorry.
Your unsung heroes in the industry at current?
Definitely Mad Mike Walsh, he’s a dead set legend. Great entertainer, retired stunt man and just all round excellent bloke. People keep saying he’s a bad egg, but their just jealous.
Three shows you must see this Fringe?
Mate I’d just go and see everything in the Assembly Gardens, the line up is that GOOD. Just settle in and tick em off the list one by one.
The one person you’d love to see your show and why?
I’d give anything to perform for David Copperfield and the fact I’ll never have that chance is heartbreaking to me. I hope he’s looking down from heaven having a coldie with Jesus and thinking, ‘great work Peter’
The reason why one should come and see your show?
Well I hope its more than one, nah just joking mate. The reason you should tell your mates about The Magic Inside is because its got it all, the triple threat; magic dance and more magic.
The one thing in Edinburgh you must do?
I reckon I’m just gonna enjoy walking about in the sunshine and having some great Scottish Food.
Ah sorry, you’re dead. But least you can have that dinner party you’ve always wanted. Who are you inviting?
David Copperfield and me, just talking shit and havin a beer or two that’d be the dream.
